Parking meters - old and new

PAYBYPL8 – means you need to know your license number to use the new parking meters. And you will be able to pay with your credit card AND merchants will be able to pay for your parking if they want your business. Things are getting better.

Ideally the city will hood the old parking meters on Monday and explain to people that the new parking meters are where your money should go.

It will take a few tries to get the hang of the things – they are different – the biggest difference is that you will need to know the license number of the car you are parking.

Let us say that again – YOU WILL NEED TO KNOW THE LICENSE PLATE NUMBER FOR THE CAR YOU ARE PARKING.

Stay tuned

The meters are great – BUT Big fail on the mobile payment http://www.telepark.ca – No App available on the App Store – a 35 cent fee and cookies must be enabled – didn’t even get past the credit card registration part because there’s no indication it’s a secure payment – Maybe I should grab my lab top and just logon using my laptop at a wifi hotspot and hope I don’t get a ticket — nobody is going to use the mobile payment – need a fix quick what a joke–

Will we get a price increase to cover the costs of this new convince ?

Debit or credit cards have a transaction fee charged each time they are used, paid by the account holder, in this case the city.
With the relatively small amounts for these transactions the fees could easily be 10%.

Does anyone know how the city plans to recover these charges?
