If you rely on email – getting a message like this causes a small panic: until you read the message carefully and note where it came from.

An email response to this email would have been the beginning of a stream of trouble.

Someone wants to tap into who we are and what we do at a serious digital level.

This one will go to our email service provider – they have been warning us about this recently.

Using the internet is like driving a car – you have to keep your eye on the road and pay attention to what is going on around you.

  • You can’t be too diligent these days. Even emails with your friend’s name in the address – usually the message should twig alert systems – check the whole email address – there will be some small variation.

A few common sense rules. 1. If the email has been sent to “junk”, it probably is! 2. buzz words–“account has been limited”, “you have been chosen”, “reset or update or confirm”–don’t open or respond 3. a name you don’t recognize–don’t recognize it. If I’m unsure after all this, I hit the “block” function (found under the heading “Junk”)–this will immediately identify the sender’s email address and 99% of the time, the email address has nothing to do with the posters name. “If in doubt, never open!”
