Penny. Conservative HQ in Ottawa, end-ran the Burlington Conservative Association and acclaimed Jane Michael over the Association’s recommendation.

I’m hypothesizing, but to miss debates by intention, it must be on HQ instruction, and the another guess is that the local campaign is on remote control. The readership can draw their own conclusions on the reasons.

Crazy. But why would you need to dodge a Public-School Q&A session. As pointed out elsewhere, is this too much of an ask, to collect $180k, perks, a pension maybe, up in Ottawa, if and only if you get elected.

  • We Love Burlington

We Love Burlington has submitted a question to Burlington Green to be considered during the audience question portion. Since PC candidate Jane Michael is not attending the debate, nor participating in the ECoB videos nor even attending high school question periods, we have also submitted our question to her directly. We hope that she will respond but given her record to date are not hopeful. WeLoveBurlington is completely non-partisan. However, we firmly believe that it is the duty of each candidate to provide the electorate with an accurate picture of where they stand on all the issues.

Thanks to Burlington Green for hosting the debate. We will publish any responses we get to our question.

QUESTION: Recognizing that municipalities are the creatures of the provincial government and almost totally under provincial control, what could you do, as Burlington’s federal government representative, to ensure that the City retains a strong identity with a resonant local voice?

ECoB has begun releasing its interviews with federal candidates. The easiest way to access these videos is to go to the ECoB website engagedburlington.ca and click on Q & A. These interviews will be released on a daily basis.

ECoB chose to use this venue as many young families may not have the ability to go to scheduled debates. This will give them the opportunity to to hear their candidates running in this Federal Election at a time that works for them.

Jane Michael the conservative candidate running in Burlington will not be participating at the Burlington Green debate. Jane also declined to participate in the ECoB Q&A Interviews that can now be seen on You Tube . Jane did not participate in the debate and question period for the grade 10 students at Burlington Central high school.

How did the conservatives elect to have this candidate run in Burlington? Typically Burlington votes conservative – this was their election to lose and they have done just that.
