BURLINGTON, ON

Most churches have an Outreach program. Some work with under-served groups in the city. Others focus on advocacy of some form.

Port Nelson United Church

Port Nelson United Church – location of a speakers series on migration.

The Port Nelson United Church and the Roseland Community Organization have come together to present their Compassionate Justice Speaker Series, MIGRATION: FROM GLOBAL TO LOCAL. This is obviously a topic of great interest and a conversation that is both relevant and necessary.

Included in the speakers list is the Mayor along with some highly qualified people.  The first event is on the 26th – 7:00 pm.

Details on the events are set out below.

I was just wondering does Dr Mountz know anything about Burlington? We have a very anti-development Mayor who encourages builders to build elsewhere. The Roseland Community Organization are the Royals of Nimbyism. What will the Mayor tell these folks? Move along folks not in our City? While handing out brochures of other places or Cities to move to. What can the Roseland group possibly tell these folks that can facilitate them moving to Canada? Put up a sign pointing to Hamilton? For those who think I’m just picking on the Mayor. In the First Quarter of 2019 Burlington only issued 13 permits for single family homes and 0 for semi-detached homes. This is a City of almost 200,000 people. These stats. are a disgrace. This unfortunately will be a waste of time for those hosting and participating.
