It was 18 years ago - the free world as we know it changed.

One of our readers sent this in this morning – did you remember 9-11?

World Trade

On this day… 18 years ago, 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

I will never forget that day and my quiet thoughts for our neighbours to the South…..

David, I have to agree with your observation. I remember driving back from Toronto and at about 8:45, I was listening to the news and it said a plane had hit the World Trade Center and I thought, “How could a small plane hit a building that size”? I got in the house, turned on CNN and saw the second plane approach and hit the second tower. At that point, I was dazed. I knew it was a big jet and obviously it was deliberate. My second thought was in the next day of seeing all the anguished people looking for news of their loved ones. A terrible day that matched the feeling I had the day JFK was assassinated.

Why no mention of who did it and why?

Yes I remember and the skyline has never looked the same! As well we lost our innocence on that day! We never thought this could happen on North American soil. It was a shocking day that I will never forget.
